Well its the end of August and 122 more days till I retire. Another week long trip is planned for Sept 17th, and I'll be pulling the trailer up to Rock Creek Lake, near Mammoth California. The road to Rock Creek is the highest road in elevation in the state of California. 9400 ft. Supposedly good fishing. We will stay there for 2-3 days then perhaps ride up to Mt Lassen National Park. This will be a good trip for the sorting out of what to take and what to leave. I think I have about 90% of the gear I need, so this will be a a good test.

This is my first attempt to create a place to share my thoughts on my 2012 U.S. Adventure.
Planning for this trip is going well. The road trials with the new trailer have been really good in organizing what to take and what to leave. With 2 camping trips under my belt, Druango Colorado Trip and Edison Lake/Mosquito Lake completed I continue to make adjustments to the types of gear I will take and what doesn't need to go. Yesterday I recieved my Solar Charger for keeping the electronics (cell, mp3 player etc..) charged.. A good upgrade.. Obviously this trip has been in the planning stages for awhile now. Most of what I will need I have. On the last 2 trips, I've logged everything I have loaded and when I returned logged everything I didn't use. Those things I haven't used will not go on the next trip. This will help to minimize the amount of gear I need to take. My plan now is to ride 6 hours a day (about 300 miles) and 5 days a week. This will allow me to take my time to sniff the flowers and give some time for "wonder what is down that road" type activities. I was planning to ride alone, but, I have had several people interested in riding with me on pieces of the trip. Ed Skvor my regular riding partner is going to join me from California to Texas and another iof my long time work associate Bob Kendall will be meeting me around Mobile Alabama , then riding most of the South and East Coast with me. Another friend has promised me lunch at the "Officers Mess at the West Point Academy". That will be |
