2015 and a new bike
Where has the time gone? 2012. My see the USA in 10 weeks by motorcycle ride. My personal celebration of retirement and a ride that I constantly flash back to remembering all the incredible sites I got to visit and all the great people that I met up with..
Then in 2013 the unforgettable cattle drive called "Run For The Wall", which pitted my personal resolve to finish against the elements. Hail, Rain, Lighting Strikes, Tornado Warnings. Torrential rain. a burnt out clutch and then, a half million motorcycles meeting for "Rolling Thunder" in Washington D.C. The ride back taking the Blue Ridge Parkway from Front Royal to South Carolina. Then a 4 day dash home.
2014 was completely put aside for Health Reasons, Early in 2014 I had a torn retina. After healing from that I had cataract surgery on both eyes. By the time that got all healed the year was pretty much over.
2015, I started to get the itch to ride again by February but was looking for a different experience. I had considered trying Adventure Riding for quite awhile, and by mid-march decided to look at what my options were. I settled on getting a KLR650 with thoughts of Alaska and some 2 wheel camping. The price was right, the ratings on the KLR650 were impressive. Tuesday April 14th I picked up a 2015 KLR650 at John Burr Motorcycle in Fontana California. So some new adventure riding is in my future. I need to get a few safety accessories to my new steed. Modulated Headlight and Tail light, plus a skid plate. Saddlebag rack and either Dry Bags (Wolfman, Expedition) or a hard pannier and these are pretty expensive. Once that has been accomplished I want to do a few camping trips. Most likely Utah, Colorado, and Arizona come to mind. I'm going to attempt keeping this blog up to date as things progress. Perhaps it will be helpful to those that are trying to accomplish the same thing as I am.

Most People live their lives in a state of control by minimizing the risks in order to avoid dealing with problems. However, This modest approach to risk is what restrains them from attempting to fulfill their dreams or striving for the extraordinary - Alan Leduc, "Passion in the Wind"
2013 - Another Adventure
After an experience of a lifetime in 2012, I'm ready to take to the road again.
This time a shorter yet rewarding trip to Washington D.C. with "Run For The Wall".
May 15th, 2013 Vietnam/Gulf War/Afganistan/Iraq veterans will be saddling up and riding from Rancho Cucamonga, Ca to Washington D.C. to participate in "Rolling Thunder" estimated to have a half million veterans on motorcycles, from all over the U.S. to show support for MIA/POW's and those that have fallen in these conflicts.
The trip from Rancho Cucamogna to D.C. will take 10 days with 2-300 motorcycles on 2 seperate routes meeting in D.C. Along the way we will be visiting VA hospitals to show support for our wounded warriors.
For me this will be my 2nd trip to "THE WALL" and I'm sure, becuase of the circumstances will be a more emotional and touching visit.
I will be posting here pictures from this trip as will as observation as we travel across the U.S.
For more information about this ride you can go to.

My name is Tim Stubbe (that's pronounced Stew-bee) and I love Motorcycle Touring, Camping, Photography, and U.S. History. In the past I have tried several ways to put these all together to share these trips with my friends and family. Some worked well, some ,well, didn't work so well.
This webpage is the outgrowth of that idea. I want to share an adventure as close to real time as can possibly be done. So friends and family can know that I'm safe and to share and enjoy the experience.
On June 28th 2012, I completed my first great adventure. I rode my 2007 Royal Star Tour Deluxe w/ HF-Tag along trailer on a cross country adventure. From California to Florida to Maine to Washington State and Home. With a long list of places to visit, I'll be camping the majority of the time and staying with friends and family other parts of the time.
You can see my 2012 trip in the Journal under the April-June Archives,
I will be adding to this page as I start new adventures.
Next Up on my list of wants is to do the "Run For The Wall" a ride from Rancho Cucamonga to Washington D.C. with 2-300 veterans on motorcycles ending in a "Rolling Thunder Parade" from the Pentagon to the Vietnam Memorial. Estimated 500K motorcycles to particpate.
